Artist Heather Sandifer of Greenwich will show new work, including the debut of her three dimensional assemblages, opening Jan. 16 at the Gallery at Bistro Latino, 1392 East Putnam Avenue, Old Greenwich (203-340-2888).
Ms. Sandifer’s previoius fine art work had focused on monotypes, largely botanical in nature, each requiring 30 or more steps to complete. For the upcoming show, she will include not only the monotypes but the assemblaages, in which construction is of major importance. In many of the pieces, metallic paint is applied and acidic washes are added to speed up oxidation, to give the pieces an aged, weathered look with additional texture.
Her work has been featured at Holly Hunt/Chicago, David Winter Works on Paper in New York, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking, Norwalk, and the Flinn Gallery at Greenwich Library and the Bendheim Gallery at the Greenwich Arts Council, as well as other venues.
An opening reception will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 in the Gallery at Bistro Latino on Wednesday and the exhibit runs through Feb. 27. For more information, contact Ms. Sandifer at 203-661-3227 or email [email protected]
