BroadwayWorld awarded A Contemporary Theatre (ACT) of Connecticut with a slew of Equity Theatre awards, including Best Musical for their production of Evita.
ACT of Connecticut took home 11 of BroadwayWorld’s Connecticut 2018 awards,which are selected based on readers’ nominations and votes from members of the theatre community. The nominated shows are those that opened between Oct. 1, 2017 and Sept. 30, 2018.
“We’re truly honored to have our incredible productions recognized by the theatre community during our inaugural year,” said Daniel C. Levine, artistic director for ACT of Connecticut. “We are also extremely thankful for our supporters who voted for us and continue to appreciate the power of regional theatre!”
ACT of Connecticut’s production of Evita won awards in the Equity categories for: Best Musical, Best Director in a Musical (Daniel C. Levine), Best Actor in a Musical (Angel Lozada), Best Choreography (Charlie Sutton), Best Ensemble Performance in a Musical, Best Costume Design (Brenda Phelps), Best Lighting Design (Jack Mehler), Best Musical Direction (Evan Roider), Best Scenic Design (Jack Mehler) and Best Sound Design (Stephen Jensen). ACT of Connecticut was also recognized as Equity Theatre of the Year.
