Four Ridgefield markets kickstart shopping season

In what has become a much-anticipated tradition, Ridgefield begins the holiday season the week before Thanksgiving with the opening of four holiday markets. ARTique 2018, the Founders Hall Wreath Festival, the Guild of Artists’ Festive Home and the Ridgefield Women’s Club Craft Fair will offer a variety of wares.

ARTique 2018

Artique 2018 opens Nov. 15, with an opening night reception and sale, complete with music and refreshments, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Church, 351 Main Street. This art boutique will exhibit works in clay and porcelain by members of Connecticut Clay Artists and objects by guest artists in different mediums including silk, jewelry, photography, turned wood, forged iron and fused glass. The ARTique market continues Nov. 16, noon to 7 p.m., and Nov. 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Wreath Festival

The Founders Hall Wreath Festival opens Nov.16 at 7 p.m. at 193 Danbury Road, with a party featuring an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, entertainment and first dibs on 100 wreaths, swag and a holiday boutique. Tickets for the opening celebration are $60. It continues with free admission on Nov. 17-18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and includes the festival’s first Gingerbread House Decorating Contest, for children 5-12. The festival’s Art Show on Nov. 17 runs from 2-4 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception. All proceeds go to Founders Hall, an education and recreation center for ages 60 and older. Festive Home continues with free admission Nov. 17 through Dec. 21 running Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (the market will be closed Nov. 21-22).
